Soft Summer (EP Version)

from EP 73 by Sound of Seventy Three

/

about

This track used to be called 'Summer Soft' until I realized that Stevie Wonder had a track by the same name and decided to change it.

It was inspired by Pete Thorn's Apogee One video where he made an entire track using just the Apogee One. I decided to do the same. I had been wanting to experiment with acoustic textures and a more mellow sound and the One seemed like a perfect interface with which to do that.

All of the acoustic instruments were recorded with the One's internal mic: guilele; acoustic guitar; brushes; fingersnaps. I used one apple loop (conga) and two virtual instruments from Garage Band: orchestral piano and gospel organ. There is also a Squier Jaguar Bass and an SX Lap Steel on this track although I don't remember what I ran them through. For this EP version I re-recorded the delayed electric guitar using my Reverend Warhawk I through Adrenalinn III's MIDI synced delays so I could get them perfectly in time.

Hardware used: SX Lapsteel; Reverend Warhawk I; Yamaha Guilele; Seagull Rustic Acoustic Dreadnaught Guitar; Squier Jaguar Bass Guitar; Rhythmtech Laptop Snare Drum

Software used: Logic 9 Pro; Ozone 4
