Paper Plane

about

I've been wanting to make a laid-back analog synth-inspired track like this for a while now. No plugin instruments were used, only real hardware instruments whether they be electric, acoustic, analog, or digital. All the synths contain analog filters and all but one have analog oscillators as well. All delays and most of the reverb are also provided by hardware.

This track started with the arrival of my Elektron Octatrack and was initially a completely different track featuring just the Korg Volcas and Waldorf Rocket sequenced by and run though the Octatrack's effects section.

Once my new audio interface arrived and I could record acoustic and bass guitar it morphed into its current version. I added a breakbeat from Ape Breaks Vol. 5, clave and handclaps from Volca Beats, live conga and tambourine, and the DSI Mopho x4 run through an Eventide Space doing its best Fender Rhodes impersonation.

Hardware used: Electron Octatrack; DSI Mopho x4; Eventide Space; Waldorf Rocket; Korg Volca Keys; Volca Bass; Volca Beats; Agile Extended Scale Bass Guitar (Bass VI); Seagull Rustic Acoustic Drednaught; LP Laptop Conga; and Tambourine

Software used: Logic Pro 9; Ozone 4
